Bristol Muslim community leader: 'New Charlie Hebdo cartoon of Muhammad is grossly racist'

A MUSLIM community leader in Bristol has criticised the republication of Charlie Hebdo cartoons of Muhammad in the UK this week, calling them “grossly racist”.

Some newspapers and websites in the UK have published images from this week’s edition of the French satirical magazine.

The latest cover was published in advance by French media. Outside France, the Washington Post, Germany’s Frankfurter Allgemeine, and Corriere della Sera in Italy also showed the cartoon in a display of solidarity.

But Abdul Malik, chair of Easton Jamia Masjid, says the images are “racist, derogatory, and hate-filled.”
