Politician and businessman gives George Ferguson backing in mayoral election bid

Another local politician has come forward and given his backing to Mayor George Ferguson’s campaign to get re-elected next May.

Former Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate and councillor, Abdul Malik, has said that he wants George Ferguson to serve another term.

Along with Green Party home affairs spokesman and parliamentary candidate for Bristol West, Darren Hall, Mr Malik is the second politician to openly endorse Mr Ferguson.

Mr Malik said: “I will be voting and backing George Ferguson in his bid to be re-elected as Bristol Mayor. We need someone like Mr Ferguson at the forefront of Bristol politics and during the last three years he has delivered a new type of leadership that gets things done in city hall and has removed the party political blockages that were stopping so much progress in the past. I believe that he deserves another term to continue the excellent work that he is doing around business, education, transport, sustainability and equality within our city.”
